Boxing addicts are all conditioned and just waiting for the epic fight of the year, “Ring Kings.” A face-off between Miguel Cotto and Floyd Mayweather Jr., on May 5th at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Aside from the day of the fight, the world is also aware for another important date for Floyd Mayweather; June 01, 2012, he is about to serve in jail.
Thereason why Floyd will need to face the verdict, is because of what happened last September 2010, the month when Josie Harris (Floyd’s ex-girlfriend) filed a case against him; The said complained rooted from a hair-pulling, punching and arm twisting, while their two kids are watching. The said case led to Floyd’s 90 day stint which will start on the date given earlier.
Despite having the judge’s blessing and allowing him to do the recently announced Floyd Mayweather vs Miguel Cotto fight, state officials are demanding to speak with Floyd in person before they allow him to fight. As for them, Floyd Mayweather is not properly licensed to fight in Nevada on May 5. Will it be a hindrance for Mayweather not to fight? According to Executive Director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, Keith Kizer, all fighters must apply or renew for their fighting licenses annually. But fighters with a convinction like Floyd Mayweather, who is about to serve jail are suggested to plead their case to the commission in person. "The commission looks at experience, integrity, character and skill to determine whether or not it's appropriate to issue a license," Kizer says.
Mayweather seems like he is not worrying about all those issues he currently faced. He just focuses on his training with Roger Mayweather, his uncle. Trying and figuring out what strategy will work best to defeat the opponent. Floyd is ready to face everything that he is liable of, what he wanted for now is not to mind any other thing and divert his attention to his fight with Cotto on May 5th.

ReplyDeleteThere’s no way that Mayweather will be denied his license because there is too much money riding on this fight. I work in one of Dish’s call centers, and I talk to dozens of people everyday who are ordering this fight. Not only do they want the best HD available to witness Ring of Kings, but also they’re looking forward to Mayweather/Cotto and Mosley/Alvarez, not just Mosley/Alvarez. It’s unfortunate what happened to Ms. Harris, but I don’t think any of that will stop Mayweather from fighting this May 5th.
