Proper Boxing Apparel

Like any other sport, in boxing proper apparel and clothing is also needed in order to feel comfortable in a fight. Some people who is just watching the game might not be very particular into the apparels that the fighters are using during the fight. Each boxer needs to have suitable boxing gears, apparels and clothing; it would also based and must be tailored fit or even based with the preference of the one who will wear it.
Let us name some of the things that a boxer would need:

1. A pair of Gloves – If you think that boxers will go into fights just wearing whatever gloves they like, well you got it wrong. A professional boxer will take brand into consideration. They would love to invest into expensive gloves rather than to a cheaper one which will not give enough quality for a fight. Next to consider is the weight, it would vary depending on which division they would be in. The heavier the weight of a glove, the more padding and the harder it will throw punches. Color of the gloves has no physical effect on the punches but it will have impact on a psychological well being of the boxer; it would also depend on the characteristic of a boxer. Say for example; Floyd Mayweather is a flashy boxer who would go for white, while a raw brawler Ricky Hatton would prefer a black glove.

2. A pair of Mitts – The mitts lies in the inner part or the inside of the boxing gloves. It would help to protect your knuckles from being hurt during the fight. Mitts should be placed properly, not too tight and not too loose.

3. Trunks – The boxer should feel comfortable in what he is wearing. In a boxing fight, the trunks contained the name of the boxer, sponsors and the flag of the country where the boxer came from. The design of the trunk must also be in accordance with an idea and should be in details; because it will represent the boxer’s disposition.

4. Boxing Shoes – Shoes of a boxer should match with the trunk. The shoes must be comfortable for the one who is fighting inside the ring, it must be durable and flexible; so that the fighter will not mind any inconveniences during the fight and just focus well on defeating the opponent.
There are still many things that needs to be considered when it comes to choosing the right apparel and gear for boxing, the above mentioned are just few. The decision will still depend on what a boxer prefer.

Mayweather’s assumption: A reality or fantasy?

Few days from now and people are excited for the much awaited grand face-off between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Miguel Cotto. Rumours’ are everywhere, predictions are all across the corner, assumptions and speculations are inevitable.
Both Cotto and Mayweather are lifting their own chairs, by letting the boxing fanatics be aware of their insights in defeating their opponent. Based on HBO’s instalment 24/7 access shows how each of the fighter prepared for their big day, they never runs out of thoughts to share. One of the interview of Roger Mayweather, he says “You know. I don’t see anything different. I don’t see nothing that amazing. I don’t see anything period, to be honest with you. I don’t think his ability has changed. With his boxing skills I don’t see anything. Cotto is just another fighter. He is nothing but another fighter.” At the same time, they asked Roger about his nephew Floyd, he mentioned that Floyd is in a good shape and confident to go inside the ring and fight. The reporters also asked Floyd’s uncle and trainer, if what Cotto can do most with his nephew. Roger confidently said that Cotto can only press Mayweather to the ropes.
Mayweather, as confidently and convincingly as possible stated that, Puerto Rican fans will be disappointed. “As I’ve said before to be the best you have to beat the best, and that is what Miguel Cotto has to do on May 5th – he has to beat me. Cotto is relentless and he has shown the heart and will to win. No doubt, he is a good opponent for me. Any boxing fan knows there is a long line of champions who come from Puerto Rico and Cotto is definitely there with the best”, Mayweather told DiaaDia Sport.
People will be able to unveil if the predictions will come true or not on May 5, 2012 as the whole world focus on the “Ring Kings” at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Miguel Cotto: The Next Best Thing?

Millions of fight fans wanted to see a Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight on Cinco de Mayo. But while we wait for this fight to end all fights to happen, Mayweather will be contending with Cotto, instead. The over-all feeling is disappointment. However, it would be severely unfair to dismiss the Puerto Rican boxer altogether.
Miguel Cotto has had an impressive run so far since his last loss to Manny Pacquiao back in 2008. Mayweather himself acknowledges that Cotto cannot be blamed for that defeat, owing to his struggle to bring down his weight as well as his relative inexperience against the "Pacman". But "Junito" Cotto has come a long way. He's a better and faster fighter and training under the celebrated Cuban trainer Pedro Diaz has made a world of difference for the 31-year-old. He has shown, especially in his last two fights in defense of his title, that he is extremely strong and has the uncanny ability to control a fighter's position around the ring whenever he chooses to. He can manhandle his opponents when they get in close or when they bully him to the ropes - a strategy he effectively used against Margarito. Everytime they got tied up he was quick on his feet and used his superior leverage to shove Margarito away.
If Cotto can use his awesome power and punching prowess while sticking to the gameplan Pedro Diaz lays out for him, he might just give Floyd Mayweather Jr a run for his money. Perhaps he can take a page off of Jose Luis Castillo's book who squared off against Floyd almost a decade ago in a fight many thought Floyd lost as Castillo got away with making a punching bag out of Mayweather who clung against the ropes. At the end of the day, thought, it's Miguel Cotto's discipline and all-business attitude that definitely gives him the edge.

And That's Why We Love Boxing

What makes boxing a very compelling sight to behold is the fact that not everyone could be in that ring. Sure, you can try shooting hoops for a few seconds, run a little bit around the corner, swing a bat a couple of times just to try it out. But have you ever considered being in a ring just to try it out?
Every sport will have its own unique way of putting you in a challenge. Whether you're into team sports or you prefer going solo, a sport is ultimately about testing your limits. Thus, when we talk about boxing we talk about your threshold on pain. And more.
Boxing is, after all, called the sweet science. Hardly apparent at first glance, it isn't sweet and is dubious as a science you might say. But that's because one sees it as nothing but a brawl when you deny any ounce of craftsmanship in the sport.
It's like painting, you start with a blank canvas. The strokes on the canvas will tell you a story that is imparted visually.
It's as simple as simple can get. Two men, no special equipment, and rules don't have complications like, say, golf. (Golf isn't complicated, you say? Then explain why there's too much golf jokes around!) And with two men fighting it out, their fate is to be decided in an enclosure that brings one blatantly obvious fact: there will be pain.
The origin of boxing actually had men fighting with their bare hands. The gloves, or what was first known as "mufflers", were introduced in the 1700s by Jack Broughton. He touted the sport as the "noble science of self-defense". Gaining popularity with the gentlemen, he promoted the sport as something noble and in effect prohibited gambling in his boxing school. Truly, only men of distinction were thought to be qualified to be pugilists. And as it grew in popularity, it also proved to be a special form of combat and not just a brawl between men out to overpower an opponent.
True, medical concerns have been raised against the sport. Knocking an opponent unconscious is lethal and can cause brain damage. More than 200 fighters have died in the sport, either in training or due to a stint in the ring. Now, protective headgear for amateur boxing are reportedly useless in preventing brain damage according to one study.
Simple the objective may be, boxing to many a scholars and experts, is the most difficult sport. ESPN believes that, based on certain key indices, boxing would have no rival in the difficulty ring. Given this judgment and how they arrived at the decision, boxing is hardly just a brawl. Sugar Ray Leonard compares it to chess and if he is to be believed, the upcoming June 9, 2012 Manny Pacquiao vs. Timothy Bradley fight can go to Bradley's favor if he plays it like so.
And if certain benchmarks are laid out to assess the level of difficulty for one endeavor, then boxing is not just about punches and knocking a person down. In terms of endurance, boxing trails sports played out for distance like track and field and swimming. Yet, if you think about what a boxer is enduring you'd rather much deal with the distance, right?
Boxing trails weightlifting on the key index of strength. But an inanimate object is pretty easier to deal with than someone alive, and in front of you and has knocking you down as his most important objective at the moment.
Really, with the above considered, it is, hands down, not the sport you would wish to be in. But that's probably why we keep watching it. It's almost easy to say the more powerful fighter will win, but at the back of your head, you're really rooting for the underdog if only to prove that power isn't everything.
That, my friend, is called faith in sweet science.

Alvarez vs Mosley Live Stream: Shane Mosley vs Saul Alvarez: A Mismatch?

On the undercard of the Miguel Cotto vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. bout set for May 5, 2012, 40 year old veteran fighter Sugar Shane Mosley, 46-7-1, 39 KO's shall be squaring off with 21 year old up and coming Mexican Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, 39-0-1, 29 KO's, for the WBC Light Middleweight title.
They will be fighting at the weight class of 154 pounds. Shane Mosley was a former three division champion who has fought Floyd Mayweather Jr., Sergio Mora and Manny Pacquiao prior to this fight.
This is quite an impressive track record and it is fair to assess that there is no shame in losing to two of the best pound for pound boxers of the decade. Saul Alvarez, on the other hand, hasn't really fought with the same calibre of fighters Shane Mosley has faced. His relative inexperience finds him at a disadvantage though his youth may also be considered an advantage to the aging Mosley.
The fight is considered a mismatch for two opposing reasons. Firstly, some say that Mosley is too experienced for Alvarez. "I have a lot of experience. I've been fighting longer than Alvarez has been alive," Mosley exclaims. "It's youth against experience." Secondly, the age difference is too great a disadvantage for Mosley whose last loss to Pacquiao was probably the worst performance of his career.
It is a far cry from his celebrated TKO victory over Antonio Margarito 3 years ago inspite of the fact that Margarito was caught with an illegal substance in his hand wraps.
The fiery red head Saul Alvarez is undefeated and is not intimidated by fighting the living legend that Mosley has come to be. It will be very interesting to see who wins this fight and if Shane Mosley can shock the world one more time before he retires.

Mayweather vs Cotto: Battle of the Fighters

Boxing fans will surely mark their calendars, May 5, 2012 will be the face off, between Floyd Mayweather Jr., and Miguel Cotto. “Ring King,” the ultimate fight that will bring another milestone in the boxing history will be held at MGM Grand Arena at Las Vegas, Nevada.

Cotto who is now holding the title, will leap into a great risk of fighting one of the best boxer, which is Mayweather. Floyd is three years older than Miguel, is also ready to fight and take the risk in getting the 154 pounds weight division title.

Both of them fought spectacular boxers of the boxing history. They both defeated Shane Mosley. Floyd won against Mosley last May 2012 and Cotto fought and won over Mosley last November 2007. Both of them fought with numerous great boxers of the history.

Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao, previous opponent of Miguel Cotto, warned Mayweather that the fight against Cotto is not easy as pie, and that he needs to be more focus. Floyd considered what Pacman advised. In one of the interviews of Floyd with ESPN, he mentioned that he is very much ready to finish Cotto, and fulfil his legacy to be one of the boxing’s all time greats. He is decided to be very aggressive hitting Cotto.

Miguel on the other hand, won’t stop until he finds the right combination of tools, techniques and tactics in winning over Floyd. The fight is about to happen, yet many of the fighter’s fans started to choose their pets. HBO will also be launching a 27 / 7 broadcasting of the event, which will implement pay per view policy. The whole boxing world will surely stop on the day that these 2 great boxers will clash. Floyd and Miguel will surely do whatever it takes to bring home the bacon.

RING KINGS: MAYWEATHER VS. COTTO

Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs Miguel Cotto has been dubbed "Ring Kings" in the build-up to their Cinco de Mayo fight later this year. After defeating Victor Ortiz with the help of a sucker punch 6 months ago, Mayweather Jr, 42-0, 26 KO's is a 7-1 favorite over Cotto as he continues to tiptoe around Manny Pacquiao.
The 31-year old Puerto Rican boxing superstar Miguel "Junito" Cotto is coming off a career-saving 10th round stoppage over arch enemy Antonio Margarito. The 154 Lb. belt holder is 3-0 with 3 KO’s training with Manny Steward and appears to have regained some of his old swagger. Since he won the WBA Junior Middleweight division title in 2010, he has displayed a marked improvement in his footwork as well as a more tactically diverse boxing ability.
"Floyd is a counterpuncher by trade and I don't think Mayweather knows how to take the lead in a fight like this. This older and wiser version of Miguel Cotto will show Floyd many different looks in this fight and give him a lot more trouble than most realize," states expert Mayweather Jr trainer Ronnie Shields. "Floyd Mayweather is a brilliant defensive fighter and I don't think it's going to be as easy as Cotto thinks to hit Mayweather.
But on the flipside, I don't think Cotto is going to be as easy to hit as Floyd believes...at least in the early to mid rounds." The pound for pound boxing champ doesn't show any signs of slowing despite long stretches of absence from the boxing ring. Although his legs are not quite what they once were, he has masterfully infused his boxing toolbox with fresh moves and quick jabs.
One of this year's most anticipated boxing event between two future hall of famers, this bout will definitely be a highly unpredictable one. It will be very interesting to witness Miguel Cotto's attempt in defying the odds and shutting up Floyd Mayweather, Jr by handing him his first career defeat.

Miguel Cotto is Optimistic against Mayweather Jr

In latest betting odds in Las Vegas, Nevada it's a 7-1 in favor of Floyd Mayweather knocking out Miguel Cotto. This doesn't seem to bother the Puerto Rican boxing superstar. In fact, he is not convinced that his fight with Mayweather was a mismatch. He doesn't care about Mayweather's superb counter-punching skills or his quick feet.
Cotto gave as an example the bout he won against Shane Mosley back in 2007 which many analysts said he will lose the fight, but the opposite happened. Cotto defeated Shane Mosley in very convincing fashion.
“When I think of quickness and faster fighters we can go back to 2007 when I fought Shane Mosley,” Cotto said. “People said the same; they said his strength is quickness, he is faster. At the end of the day when we fought I beat him at his own game. I plan to do the same with Mayweather. I plan to apply pressure and apply power. It is going to work for me too.”
Cotto also mentions the lessons he learned from his defeat at the hands of Manny Pacquiao.
”When he defeated me in 2008 I learned a lot. After he beat me in 2008, right after the fight I understood he took from me a lot of things, like my confidence and good things I had before in my career. As soon as we started training two weeks ago I understood those things came back to me.”
The rejuvenated Puerto Rican boxer will be fighting at a comfortable weight and is set to receive his career's biggest paycheck. He gave his career a much needed shot in the arm by capturing the super welterweight title and successfully defending it twice in 2011. This will be his greatest advantage against an inactive Mayweather Jr who's last victory was via a sucker punch on the fourth round.

Mayweather camp admits that Cotto is a Formidable Foe

Floyd Mayweather, who is already moving up from welterweight (147 lbs) to Junior Middleweight is slated to go head to head with Miguel Cotto for the WBA world title. It will take place on the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The fight, famously dubbed as Ring Kings is a heavily anticipated match for Cinco de Mayo between two of the best fighters of the decade.
The undefeated WBA Welterweight champion Mayweather Jr says he will be more aggressive against Cotto. "Am I going to be in a very, very aggressive style? I believe so," Mayweather declares. "I just have to see how the fight plays out, but I'm going to approach it in a very, very aggressive way and go out there and press the attack early," he added.
Although most boxing analysts foresee a lopsided victory in favor of Mayweather Jr, his own trainer cautions fight fans to expect a very difficult contest for both boxers. "I really think Miguel Cotto has jump started his career again," states the Houston, TX, based trainer. "I believe this is really going to be a tough fight for Floyd Mayweather because Cotto is a much smarter boxer now. He doesn't just stand in one spot anymore and isn't nearly as easy to hit as he used to be when he was a more fearless aggressor. He's also counterpunching very well right now."
The WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (32-2, 30KOs) ignores being the underdog in his upcoming match against the undefeated WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (42-0, 26KOs).
“Actually I don’t pay too much attention to that,” Cotto said. “I get paid for bringing to people what they want to see: good show, real fight; that’s what I am going to prepare for.”

The ultimate boxing fight of the year is indeed unstoppable. Both of Mayweather’s and Cotto’s team are doing extensive trainings and plans to defeat the opponent. The said fight could either make or break each boxing icons.

Floyd Mayweather is confident with his strengths and fast movements. “I have no doubt that my collection of belts will increase again and Cotto’s reign will end on May 5th,” Floyd Mayweather said during the promotional tour in Puerto Rico, as quoted by Boxing Scene.

With the statement given by Floyd, shows his determination of owning the title and to defeat Miguel. Mayweather is a real champion, by bringing home five different titles: super featherweight, lightweight, super lightweight, welterweight and junior middleweight. Mayweather is undefeated through the first 42 bouts of his professional career.

Those are the reason why he is not doubtful of getting the price and title at stake on the upcoming fight with Cotto. On the lighter side, many people salute Floyd when he helped paying medical bills for a 10 – month old baby, having a heart complication known as “hypoplastic right heart syndrome.” It is a good thing that in spite of his rigorous trainings and busy schedules, he still allotted time to do such thing.

Miguel Cotto, three division - champion will not let the opponent to score against him. His plan is not to let Mayweather think, and thereafter pressuring him to the corner. Miguel aims of getting all the possible points possible, and not letting Floyd hit him. Cotto is a man with intelligent, analyst mentioned that he will be able to execute his plans of defeating Floyd, he just needed to know when to hold up and when to strike back.

“Ring Kings,” the much awaited fight of the year, which will happen on May 5, 2012 at the MGM Arena Las Vegas, Nevada. HBO will air the said event and will implement pay per view.

Mayweather vs Cotto: 154 lbs. Weight division - Five years after.

After winning against Oscar De La Hoya in 2007, Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr is now ready to fight with Miguel Angel “Junito” Cotto for 154 lbs. Weight division. The big fight of the year will be held at the MGM Grand Arena at Las Vegas, Nevada on May 5, 2012, entitled “RING KINGS.”

Way back 2007, the remarkable fight between Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather Jr., brought history to the boxing world. The fight lasted up to the 12th round, and ended with a split decision. It then gave Floyd the credit and owned the title “WBC 154 pounds.” Five years had quickly passed, and Mayweather will now be facing the same challenge in the presence of Cotto.

Prior to the announcement of Mayweather – Cotto fight, team Pacquiao tried to propose a fight against Mayweather. However, since they are not on the same page with the boxing guidelines. Each team tried to negotiate but it was really unsuccessful. Miguel Cotto was formerly defeated by Pacquiao on the 12th round via technical knockout. According to the boxing analysts, Floyd might see it as an opportunity to defeat Miguel. The analyst also mentioned that Miguel’s percentage of winning via KO is higher compared to Floyd.

However, Mayweather is very elusive and faster. Floyd is currently undergoing rigid training, under his uuncle Roger Mayweather. He is preparing for the power and size of the opponent. Floyd is working on new patterns to confuse Miguel with his strategies.

For sure Floyd will never let his guard down, especially he knows that there is an age gap, and he is pretty much aware of Miguel’s moves and tactics. Since, Miguel is currently holding the title, the world will be watching and will focus on if Floyd will be able to grab the title and win the fight. It’s been five years, Floyd is now ready to get the title back. Watch Mayweather vs Cotto Streaming
